President John Davidson will officially open the greens for 2012 on Friday 13th
April 2012 (and no we're not showing the movie) at 6.45pm. All members are
welcome to attend. |

|
|
The Opening Dance will be on Saturday 14th April with Kenny Campbell providing
the music. |
|
|
|
President Chris Holland will official start the Ladies 2012 Season on Tuesday
17th April at 2.30pm and all Kingswood's Ladies are welcome. |
|

KINGSWOOD'S FEE NIGHTS |
|
|
The collection of the fees for the 2012 season will be held on Tuesday 6th and
Thursday 8th Match from 7.30pm till 9.00pm.
Competition entry forms will also be available for the Ladies and the Gents |
|
|
COMMITTEE MEMBERS |
|
|
For the year 2012 the Committee is short of four members, and we need members to
come forward to bring the Committee up to full strength.
The duties will include two nights as the Club's Duty Man and one meeting per
month.
So please think about it and contact any of the Trustees for more information. |

KINGSWOOD'S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS |
|
|
|
The Club's AGM was held on Monday 20th February 2012 and 66 eligible members
attended. The new President, John Davidson was elected along with the Vice
President, Charlie Boyle (who could not be at the meeting). |
|
|
|
The Secretary and the Treasurer gave their reports to the meeting and the fees
will remain unchanged from 2011. |
|
|
|
We also elected a new Honorary President R Kennedy Greig. |
|
|
|
The meeting concluded with the Honorary President thanking Past President Tam
Jarvie and President John Davidson for their handling of the meeting. |
|
|
|
The Ladies held their AGM on Tuesday 21stFebruary and the new President, Chis
Holland and the new Vice President Helen McMurdo were elected. |
|
|
|
To replace Leslie Ann McKenzie on the Committee Liz Woo was nominated. |
|
|
KINGSWOOD AGM DATES |
|
|
The Annual General Meeting will take place in the Clubhouse at 7.30pm on Monday
20th February 2012.
Members are encouraged to attend the meeting.
Any changes being proposed to the Constitution should be sent to the Secretary
as early as possible but no later than 7th February 2012.
The Ladies AGM will be held on Tuesday 21st February 2012. |

SANTA'S COMMING TO KINGSWOOD |
|
|
|
The Annual Christmas Dance will be held on Saturday 17th December and Santa has
promised to put in an appearance. |

KINGSWOOD NEWS 3RD OCTOBER 2011 |

News was received today that Agnes Mayer had passed away in her sleep over
the weekend while on holiday in Italy.
From all of the members, the committee and both the President and Vice President
send Malky our deepest sympathy at this time.
Once the funeral announcement is made, a notice will be placed in the Club. |

KINGSWOOD CLOSING DAY 1st OCTOBER 2011 |
|
|
Kingswood held its annual Closing Day on Saturday 1st October 2011 and if the
weather had been nicer we might have had a game, but instead we were considering
water polo.
After the traditional dinner we started on the Presentation of Prizes. President
Tam Jarvie made an emotional speech thanking both Committees and the members for
their support over the year.

KINGSWOOD BOWLING NEWS - WEEK ENDING 18th JUNE

|
|
|
CONGRATULATIONS go to Robin Purves, Lee McElveen, Bob Smith and Iain Gillies
the Kingswood senior fours who are through to the District Finals at Rutherglen
on Thursday. The club wish them all the best and look forward to supporting them
on Thursday and at Northfield.
In the Renfrewshire sponsored fours Neil Lynn, Lee McElveen, Brian Holland
and Iain Gillies will be battling for a place in the finals when they play in
the semis at Paisley Victoria this Tuesday.
Jack Gillies sucessfully defended his title of Rutherglen and District
Under-16 Singles Champion when he played at Rutherglen on Friday Friday.
On Saturday the Kingswood Open Fours was held, and the winning team was
Scottish Brewers.
The ladies are also having a measure of success in Association competitions
with triples, Sadie Stevenson, Betty Charleson and Alison Robertson making the
District Final of the West Of Scotland.
In the East Renfrewshire pairs, Margaret McElveen and Angela Boyle with fours
Merrall Peacock, Linda Hyslop, Sadie Stevenson and Elice Grey all playing in the
semis at Mosspark on June 22 and hopefully the finals on Thursday

The annually Harris trophy will be played on Friday 16th June 2011 with teams on
the greens at 6.30pm.
Tom Harris MP and his wife will be visiting all the clubs taking part with the
presentation at Mount Florida, last years winners. |

Unfortunately Marjory Kyle and Rachel Magee lost out in the Bowls Scotland
District Pairs Final played at Rutherglen Bowling Club.
Despite a great start, they ,lost out to the ladies from Kirkhill Bowling Club. |

KINGSWOOD BOWLING NEWS - SATURDAY 11th JUNE |
|
|
Today, Kingswood held its annual Open Fours Competition with 18 teams taking
part. Starting of at 10.00am in sunshine which as the normal Scottish summer day
turned by lunchtime into a downpour, the teams enjoyed a great day of bowls.
The eventual winners were the team from Donald Murray Paper skipped by
Kingswood's own John Thomson who beat the Quarter team.

KINGSWOOD BOWLING NEWS - WEEK ENDING 11th JUNE
IT'S BEEN a mixed bag of results this past week but we have enjoyed
some success in association games.
In the GBA sponsored fours, Robin Purvis, Neil Martin, Bert Baillie and Alex
Bell are through to the semi-final and in Bowls Scotland Senior Fours Robin
Purvis, Lee McElveen, Robert Smith and Ian Gillies are also in the District
semi, the common denominator being Robin.
The ladies are also represented with Marjory Kyle and Rachel Magee in Bowls
Scotland District final of the pairs to be played at Rutherglen BC this Sunday.
In the West of Scotland WBA Sadie Stevenson, Betty Charleson and Alison
Robertson are still flying the flag for Kingswood.
The semis of the East Renfrewshire LBA will be played at Mosspark BC on
Wednesday June 22 and Kingswood have Margaret McElveen and Angela Boyle through
in the pairs with club mates Merrall Peacock, Linda Hyslop, Sadie Stevenson and
Elice Gray in the fours. It's a white hat affair for the semis.
On the home front on Saturday club members enjoyed the annual jubilee fours
competition with Effie Fenwick, Bill Stevenson, Alex Bell and Derrek McFadden
popular winners.

Scottish Cup Final Hampden 21st May
The Scottish Cup Final at Hampden will be between Celtic and Motherwell with a 3.00pm kick-off. The club will be open to visitors who have
completed the online form from Noon. Entry for these visitors is guaranteed until 1.30pm.
PLEASE NOTE that due to a function in the Club on Saturday Evening, there will be no return to the Club after the match.
Kingswood lift the Teddy Taylor Trophy
On Friday 20th May the annual Teddy Taylor Competition was play throughout the area.
Kingswood were the narrow winners over Croftfoot. This is the first silverware
for Kingswood for 2011.
Joe Donnelly MBE
We are sadden to hear of the death of Big Joe, he had been active in Kingswood for a number of years and was a great Honorary President.
Our thoughts and good wishes go to Lynn and the rest of the family.
Joe will be missed, not only by Kingswood, but also Fairfield Bowling Club where he was an Honorary Member and the various charities in the Govan
area which Joe was involved in.
Scottish Cup Semi Final Hampden 16th & 17th April
There are two Scottish Cup Semi Finals at Hampden on Saturday 16th April with
the kick-off at 12.45pm, the club will be open to members and visitors from
11.00am.
On Sunday 17th April the club WILL NOT BE OPEN before the match, this is due to licensing issues.
Kingswood's Opening Day
President Tam Jarvie will be please to welcome members and friends to the clubs Opening Day on Friday
15th April at 6.45pm.
At the opening in addition the Presidents Party will the Tom Harris and his wife, our local
Councillors and
hopefully representatives of the SBA, GBA and RBA.
On Saturday 16th April there will be the Opening Dance with Heart & Soul providing the entertainment for
the evening.
CIS Cup Final at Hampden
On Sunday 20th March the CIS Cup Final will be held at Hampden Park with
a 3.00pm kick-off. This years final will be between Rangers
and Celtic.
Please note NO COLOURS within the club. Any guest wearing colours will be refused entry.
Kingswood's Annual General Meeting's
The full members Annual General Meeting will be help in the clubhouse on Monday
21st February 2011, followed on Tuesday 22nd February by the Ladies AGM.

Death of Tom Allan
The members were saddened to learn of the death of Tom Allan earlier this week.
Tom had been District 29 Secretary for the SBA for many years, plus he was a
recent President of the SBA. Tom was a good friend to Kingswood and his passing
will be missed, our thoughts and wishes go to his family.
The funeral will be held at the Linn Crematorium on Tuesday 15th February at 1.00pm
CIS Semi Finals at Hampden
On January 29th and 30th there are the CIS Semi Finals at Hampden,
Celtic -V- Aberdeen and Rangers -V- Motherwell, both with 3.00pm
kick-off
Please note that any member wishing to bring four or more guest, or if
the member is not present to sign any guests in, please notify the
Secretary so that the numbers in the clubhouse can be managed.
Senior Citizens Christmas Party
The senior members of Kingswood sat down to a great meal followed by a dance with Ricki Law, thanks were due to
Graham Clark who organises the night.
Kingswood Re-Opens
After all the problems with the heating system, then the big freeze up,
the club is now open for business. The heating pipes from the
boiler to the radiators have been replace and the burst in the mains
supply has been fixed. So we have a toasty clubhouse in this cold
weather.
New Years Eve Party
Unfortunately the New Years Eve Party on Friday 31st
December has been cancelled due to the lack of heating within the club.
Kingswood Christmas Party
On Saturday 18th December Santa will be visiting Kingswood, and by the looks of it his sleigh will not be
scrapping on the roof this year. Guaranteed to be a great night for all members and visitors.
Ladies Members Xmas Party
Due to the weather conditions it has been decided to cancel the planned party on Tuesday 14th December and
rearrange it for Thursday January 20th 2011.

Halloween Dance 30th October
Thanks to the many members and guests who partied in the Clubhouse in fancy dress. Gillian Dee provided the music and
a great night has had by all.
2010 Closing Day
Kingswood had a very successful closing day on Saturday 2nd October with the
game in the afternoon being won by Vice President Tam Jarvie (First Trophy
ever won) and Immediate Past President Alex Bell.
The Dinner was followed by the Presentation of the various trophies to the
winners, a full list can be found here, with a
photographic record here, for those of a
nervous disposition you have been warned.

Inter Counties Top Ten Competition
On Sunday the 23rd May Kingswood Bowling Club played host to Tranent Bowling
Club in the Inter Counties Top Ten Competition. As last years winners of the GBA
Top Ten Kingswood were representing the GBA in this Scotland wide competition.
Unfortunately, Kingswood lost 6 points to 2 points, but everyone from the
Players, the Officials and the spectators had a great day in glorious sunshine.
Hopefully next year, Kingswood can again represent the GBA in this
competition.
Ladies Coffee Morning
The annual ladies Coffee Morning will take place on Saturday 3rd April 2010 and
all members and visitors are welcome, tickets are £1.50 or 75p for children
Dogs in the Clubhouse
A number of Members have raised the issue of dogs in the Club. Not wanting to
total ban dogs within the Club, the Committee have decided to ban all dogs in
the Club during function, this includes the Friday night Bingo, Social or
Private Function and bowling events where there is catering.
The Committee would appreciate the cooperation of the Members.
Hampden Events
In light of recent events after the CIS Cup Final, the
Committee have decided to request the names of all visitor to be submitted prior
to the event, this will allow the Committee Members on duty to better organise
the numbers in the Clubhouse.
Also, when a member invites guest (up to 4)
please remember you MUST be in the clubhouse when you guests arrive, unless you
have made prior arrangements and notified the Secretary.
